An Eastwick Halloween

October 30th, 2009 by Rachel Shelton

It is a curious fact that people are never so trivial as when they take themselves seriously.” - Oscar Wilde

As anyone remotely familiar with Eastwick knows, we are big on Halloween.

Though our Black & Orange bash is on hiatus this year, our Halloween spirit is still in full effect. For the Eastwick office party, the one requirement was that people come in costume. Otherwise, all bets were off.

Everyone took the opportunity to exercise their individual creativity, sense of humor, and personality.

A passel of Eastwickers

A passel of Eastwickers: (front row) Annemarie, Elizabeth, Katie, Sam (holding Dexter), Andrew & Tina; (back row) Elaine, Barb, Elisabeth, Lyda, Rachel, Kevin & Mo

We had:

The pop-culture phenoms: Adrian Monk and Jon Gosselin

The classic archetypes: Witches, Cat, Goddess, Valley Girl, Cowgirl and Gypsy Princess

The rockers: Def Leppard and Alice Cooper

The witty: A White Lie

The totally rad: A Chiquita Banana

Despite calling themselves “witches” for almost 20 years, two of our founders dressed as witches for the very first time.

Jon minus Kate, and the fastidious Mr. Monk

Jon (Kevin) minus Kate, and the fastidious Mr. Monk (Andrew)

December 17th, 2008 by admin

By Jennifer Lindsay, Director of Digital Services, Social Media Evangelist / New Media Guru

Earlier this month, we told you about  the Tenderloin After School Program or TASP.

Well, after shopping expeditions by both our Mountain View and San Francisco offices, we presented TASP with everything from the functional (gift cards to Safeway and Target as well as cash donations) to fun (Hannah Montana, JK Rowling, Mossimo, Camp Rock and Hello Kitty were all well represented).

We made the holiday donations last week. We’re wishing the 200+ children that are a part of this after-school program an very special holiday season.

Join In and Help a Great Cause!

December 10th, 2008 by admin

Every year, like so many companies, the Eastwick gang does some kind of holiday volunteer outreach.

This year, we’re supporting the Tenderloin After School Program (TASP), a group that provides kids and families in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district with training, after school activities, job support and other services.

It’s a great group that does excellent work and gives kids a place to go after school.

Halloween 2008: Trick or Treat?

October 31st, 2008 by admin

By Linda Clarke, EVP

For those of us who survived the dot-com bust of the early 2000s, the current economic tailspin is eerily reminiscent of the fear, dread and despair that became part of our daily lives.

During the dot-com bust I was VP Marketing at a well-funded start-up, and watched in horror as our dreams of being the ‘next big thing’ went up in smoke.

Eastwick Clients Think Pink

October 23rd, 2008 by admin

By Elaine Cummings, Principal

It’s the pink time of year again. Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every October, people from all over come together to draw attention to the issue of breast cancer and mobilize resources to find a cure. If you haven’t walked for the cure, you’ve probably donated. Individuals, associations and businesses of all sizes jump in to support organizations such as the American Cancer Society and The Susan G. Komen Foundation. At Eastwick, we’ve been involved with a number of efforts with our clients. My favorite? The Pink Pocket Hard Drive that Seagate produced awhile back (which we managed to get on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, I might add).

Party Like a Witch (or Warlock)

October 21st, 2008 by admin

By Linda Clarke, EVP

On Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Eastwick will be holding their 4th annual Black & Orange Bash in honor of the most hallowed of holidays for an agency named after John Updike’s Three Witches of Eastwick.

For those not in the know, when the three co-founders of Eastwick were getting ready to launch their own agency in 1991, one that turned the big agency paradigm on its head by having senior people do much of the work, a mutual colleague saw them huddled together and remarked that they looked amazingly like the aforementioned three witches, and the name stuck.
